Attractions

SY21’s inner city location means it is accessible to much of Melbourne’s renowned attractions from its international reputation for embracing the arts to the city’s fanatical interest in sporting events.

With a Chapel Street address, the complex is in a designated tourist precinct with international fashion boutiques alongside magnificent eateries and vibrant nightclubs.

The beautiful Royal Botanic Gardens, with its ornamental lakes and extensive collection of exotic plants, is a 10-minute walk west of SY21. There are nearby public barbecues on the southern banks of The Yarra River between Swan and Anderson Streets, South Yarra.

The sacred Melbourne icon of the Shrine of Remembrance - with its eternal flame, poignant war memorial galleries and spectacular views of the city skyline - is situated on the western boundary of the Royal Botanic Gardens.

Step back in time at The National Trust’s nearby historic Como House which is located across the road from Herring Island sculpture and nature park, which is accessed (in the warmer months) by punt across the Yarra River.

Melbourne’s sports precinct - which includes the MCG, Rod Laver Arena, and Soccer Stadium - is on SY21’s doorstep and also within walking distance.

Access to Herring Island via Parks Victoria passenger ferry.
